Frequently Asked Questions
Things to Know Before You Build
We often hear these questions from our families when they are considering building a custom home.
Decide where you want to live, understand what your true max budget is.
I recommend at least having it under contract, there are too many variables to each
lot that can affect design, style, and budget. We can then help navigate folks into
whether its the right or wrong lot once we start the plan design process for them,
if they have the time contractually to do this due diligence.
Only in very selected neighborhoods. So my general answer is no. I will evaluate a
lot once we have started the plan design process or have somesort of small deposit
if they already have there plans and we are moving toward building there home.
We work on a 6 month schedule for crawl space homes, and a 9 month schedule for
basement homes. We are now using a app called Builder Trend that is sharing our
schedule with our subs to keep everyone notified as to when we need them. Its a
great tool. It also allows us a portal to post daily logs with pics and weather log
to keep them in the know.
It starts with our questionnaire in the design process where I learn there vision
and desired level of finishes for selectable items, then once we have allowances and
numbers built and have gone to contract we set up appointments with all of our
vendors in house designers to help make selection decisions. We try to get clients
to make all selections in the first month after signing contract, but understand
sometimes you need more time, so we can help prioritize items by there needed
importance so not impede schedule.
Yes you can, but we ask that it be during business hours with a BBC representative
if possible. We also set up multiple walk throughs and on site meetings at safe
times in construction to get our clients input through out.
Yes we can, with clients who we vet is qualified, who our lender says is financially
qualified, and in locations we feel comfortable building in.
